This micro trend will solve all your summer workwear problems

Dressing for work in summer isn’t easy, let alone when you throw a heatwave into the mix. While denim cut-offs and slides might seem like the dream, it’s not exactly office-friendly – unless you’re talking dress down Friday.

But luckily, there is one micro fashion trend that is going to solve all your woes: shorts suits. Not quite as severe as the skirt suit, and definitely more heatwave-proof than the pant suit, it’s still chic enough for work.

First seen at Saint Laurent, Balmain and Off-White during fashion week, shorts teamed with blazers have now trickled down to the high street with the likes of Zara, French Connection and Mango serving up great styles.

Over on Instagram, influencers like Hannah Crosskey, Ivana Kordik and Pernille Teisbaek have all put their own stamp on the trend.

Wear it with Hermes sandals a la Hannah, or slippers like Ivana if you can’t get away with sandals at work.

For a casual take on things, try pairing a linen suit with dad trainers like Pernille below.

Don’t be fooled into thinking short suits only coming in neutral tones either, you can easily get away with a jazzier print – in fact tropical vibes are very much in at the moment.

Wear with a white t-shirt for an easy win, or with a floaty floral blouse for an eccentric 70s spin.
